RAILWAY HOUSE
Client: CITY OF BuSSELTON
lOCATION: BUSSELTON, weSTERN aUSTRALIA
Shape Management worked with the City of Busselton to deliver Railway House The building incorporates an interpretive centre where the restored Ballarat Engine is housed, along with other information and display items of regional historical importance.
This iconic building provides a shop front for the Visitors’ Centre, as well as office space and workshop accommodation for Busselton Jetty. While a modern construct, Railway House has historical links with the incorporation of the original Busselton Railway Station into the build. The original Busselton Railway Station has restored and relocated to the foreshore from Rotary Park
Railway House sits on a 600m2 site on the foreshore in close proximity to the iconic jetty and maintaining public access to the nearby tourist attractions and parking have been a challenge for the project.
