Client: Curtin University

The B404 Anatomy Lab underwent a complete refurbishment and to modernise the facility, better utilise the space and address compliance issues around emergency egress, storage of dangerous goods and ventilation. The anatomy lab and plastination room are used to prepare human specimens for student learning and had strict requirement around contamination and waste. The plastination room was a spark free zone due to the chemicals used in the process and involved the construction of a bespoke custom freezer.

The project had several challenges including dangerous goods and gases, operating in a live environment and the sensitivities around the use of the room.
The project was delivered concurrently to major mechanical services project in the building with a different Lead Contractor which was also managed by Shape Management.
The end result is a user friendly, modern facility for the School of School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences to continue this vital research.
